TERMS OF SERVICE

1. THE GAME

Dreary is a free-to-play browser-based multiplayer game run by its independent developer (“we”). Access is provided as-is, with no uptime guarantee. The service may change, pause, or shut down at any time without notice.

2. ACCOUNTS

You must provide a valid email address at registration. Your email is used for password recovery. We send occasional news about Dreary (major updates, reopenings) only if you opt in — the choice is off unless you tick it, and you can change it at any time on the character select screen. Your email is never sold or rented. It is shared only with the service that delivers our emails, and only to deliver them.

You must be 13 or older to create an account and play.

You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure. One account per person. Account sharing is not permitted.

You can delete your account yourself at any time from the character select screen (your password is required). This removes the account, its email address and all of its characters. Records kept for moderation (such as bans and player reports) may remain.

You can also play as a guest without entering anything. A guest account has no email or password, plays one character up to level 6, and can be saved as a full account at any time (an email is required then). A guest account left unplayed for 14 days is deleted automatically with its character.

3. PLAYER CONDUCT

By playing Dreary you agree not to:

• Use exploits, bugs, or unintended mechanics to gain an unfair advantage
• Harass, threaten, or use hate speech toward other players in chat
• Attempt to disrupt the server or other players’ connections
• Impersonate staff or other players
• Sell, trade, or purchase accounts or in-game items for real money

Violations may result in a permanent account ban without appeal.

4. DATA WE COLLECT

Dreary collects and stores:

• Your username and hashed password
• Your email address (for password recovery, and for occasional Dreary news only if you opted in), and when and where you gave or changed that choice
• Gameplay events: zone visits, kills, quests, chat messages, and in-game actions. For new characters this includes how a play session went — for example which window was open and what you were doing when you left — and error reports from the game page, so we can see where new players get stuck. Session details are kept for 60 days, then deleted.
• Your IP address for connection rate-limiting and security purposes

We do not collect payment information. We do not sell or rent your data; it is shared only with the services that run the game (hosting, email delivery). Chat logs may be reviewed by staff to investigate reports of misconduct.

Some of what happens in the game is public: your character name may appear on the website and in the Dreary Discord with in-game events such as a new adventurer’s arrival, a leaderboard lead, a duel result, or a bug report or idea you send.

5. CONTENT

All game content — text, art, audio, and code — belongs to us. You are welcome to stream, record and share videos and screenshots of your play. You may not extract, redistribute or sell the game’s assets (art, audio, code) without permission.

Player-generated content (character names, chat messages, notes) remains your own, but you grant us a license to store and display it within the game.

6. DISCLAIMER

Dreary is provided “as is” without any warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any lost progress, data loss, or service interruption. The game is a hobby project — it may break, change, or end.

7. CHANGES

These terms may be updated at any time. Continued use of the game after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision.
